REGIONAL CONVENTION ON FISHERIES COOPERATION AMONG AFRICAN STATES BORDERING THE ATLANTIC OCEAN

A Conference of Plenipotentiaries, which met in Dakar, Senegal, on 4 and 5 July 1991, adopted the Regional Convention on Fisheries Cooperation among African States bordering the Atlantic Ocean.

In accordance with Article 22, the Convention was open for signature in Dakar and at FAO Headquarters in Rome until 31 December 1992.

Pursuant to Article 24, the Convention entered into force on 11 August 1995 (thirty days after the receipt by the Director-General of FAO of the seventh instrument of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession). The Convention was registered with the Secretariat of the United Nations on 21 February 1996.
